Remember when you were a kid, how you used to ride your bike to your friend’s house to play catch? Remember how you splashed your sister at the pool? Remember how you would play hide and seek until your parents called you home for dinner?
Remember when you used to do a bunch of push ups to lose inches off that belly or how you used to run five miles a day to keep the weight off?
Yeah, I don’t remember that part of childhood either.
So why do you think you have to do that now?
I know you’ve tried getting fit and healthy. You’ve read all the advice online and in magazines and in book after book. But you just can’t quite get there because being health is so BORING! The magazines tell me that I have to run, I have to lift weights and do burpees and log my food and I tried that one time to go running and I hurt my knee before I got down the street and Oh God please don’t make me do that ever again.
My Adventure Playground is for those who get bored with traditional fitness regimes. They’ve tried over and over to get up and get moving, but they can’t seem to make it fit. Lifting weights, doing sit ups, running, calorie counting might work well for some people, but if you’re bored, if you don’t keep up with it, it doesn’t do you any good.
My Adventure Playground is about taking health and fitness and turning it into something fun, something that can become a part of your life that you enjoy and want to share with others. It’s about bringing the joy of childhood back into your everyday routine through games and play, wonder and excitement.
Together, we will learn more about alternatives to those flashy magazines and traditional health websites. We’ll rediscover childhood games, outdoor adventures, playing with your kids and so much more. There is so much to do out there, so much more than those other health and fitness sites and magazines try to push. Life is too short to spend it on a treadmill.
If you’re ready to change your life for the better, if you’re ready to get healthy in fun way, then join us on our adventure.
I was once one of those people who dreamed of adventure and of being healthy while watching an entire season of Buffy in one sitting. I slowly gained weight since high school, going back and forth between kinda heavy and really heavy. I was a vegetarian for 15 years, I was a regular at the gym, I even ran a half-marathon and I was miserable.
When I learned how to lighten up, learned the right foods to eat and started to explore areas of fitness I never thought about trying before, I started to notice a dramatic difference. Between a primal/paleo diet and parkour, I lost a total of 40lbs and I noticed a difference in my attitude. I’m happier, healthier and less fearful.
I’m not there yet. I’m still on my journey to lose weight and get strong but I want to continue this journey with you. As I write on this blog and continue this adventure, I learn more about how to enjoy my life and how be the best that I can be and I want to share that with everyone.
